Quality

Microtrace is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). We are also accredited for the discipline of trace evidence by the Texas Forensic Science Commission. We are FDA registered (FDA 3008998904), DEA registered (schedules 1, 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5) and cGMP compliant.  We are registered with the ATF and hold a manufacturers explosive license.  We also hold a USDA soil permit to import soil from foreign countries.

Microtrace LLC is proud to provide its clients with the highest level microanalytical services, thoughtfully applied to withstand the most rigorous scientific and legal reviews, which are supported by a quality management system and adherence to the current standards of scientific practices and ethics. Beyond assuring the quality of our analytical results, our quality management system ensures that our entire workflow, from sample receipt to sample disposition and all analyses between, is subject to the highest degree of internal scrutiny. We are committed to upholding and continually improving our analytical and quality approaches to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of our entire process. Each scientist and the management at Microtrace is familiar with and committed to abiding by the policies and procedures of this systematic approach, which is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the International Standard, ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Each analysis is conducted from a fundamental, sample-driven approach, which results in analyses customized to the particular question of our clients.  In some instances, our approaches are based directly or largely upon internationally accepted standard methods (e.g., ASTM, SWG); however, many of the questions that we address fall outside of the range of these standardized procedures.  To this end, Microtrace staff maintain a membership with ASTM and utilize ASTM methods as well as standards from other organizations, as appropriate to our clients’ tasks.

Over the years, Microtrace has developed an international reputation among forensic and industrial microscopists for our success in answering unusual and difficult problems that fall outside the scope of typical laboratories.  Our scientists continually develop their experience and knowledge base through research, presentations, publications and training.  We also sit (and have sat) on numerous national and international working groups, teach courses and workshops throughout the world, including the North Carolina Forensic Science Advisory Board.
