Botanicals, Wood and Pollen Reference Collection
Microtrace’s botanical collection contains thousands of samples in a variety of forms. The bulk of the collection is comprised of wood (both bulk samples and oriented thin section preparations), wood pulp, pollen, and spores from plants and fungi from around the world. The former samples are primarily used when our scientists are conducting wood and paper identifications, while the latter are used to place constraints on possible environments during our geolocation efforts. The collection is rounded out by miscellaneous plant-based materials, including vegetable fibers (such as coconut coir), vegetable drugs, and food ingredients (some of which are curated as a part of other collections).
