Paint and Polymers Reference Collection

Microtrace has amassed collections of pure polymers and field samples (with an emphasis on paints, fibers, and foams) that assist our scientists in the identification of these components in the complex mixtures in which they are typically encountered in the real world.  These physical collections are supplemented by external, as well as internally developed, spectral libraries of FTIR, Raman, pyrolysis-GC, and mass spectrometry data, which are used to help us unravel complex issues that lead to material defects or failures.  In forensic cases, our research into paint samples (architectural and automotive) helps us to stay abreast of the latest trends in layer structure, polymer composition, and colorant formulations.
