Volatile Compounds

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are substances with high vapor pressures.  Many of the volatiles encountered and analyzed by our laboratory fall into the categories of off-odors, flavor compounds, accelerants, combustion products, and decomposition products.  Together, these categories include literally thousands of chemical species, often present at trace levels.  In addition to VOCs, various other gases such as cyanide, hydrogen, ammonia, and hydrofluoric acid have been encountered.  Whether the project involves a qualitative screening to determine the types of compounds present, analysis to determine relative concentrations of certain materials, or quantitative analysis, the scientists at Microtrace have the expertise to develop an suitable method.
