Skip Palenik Presents Keynote at CTT Conference

Microtrace founder Skip Palenik was invited by Coatings Trends & Technologies (CTT) to present the keynote address at their 8th international conference in Rosemont, IL this week. On Tuesday, September 11, Skip spoke on “The Importance of Coatings Science in Forensic Investigations.” In his address, Skip demonstrated the powerful role that coatings evidence has played in a wide-variety of real-life criminal cases he has worked on, including the Green River Murders.

More than 500 attendees from over 200 chemical and coatings companies were represented at the conference this year.

The Importance of Coatings Science in Forensic Investigations

It may not strike the coatings scientist or formulator that their daily work could have an impact on the solution of many of the crimes they hear about in the media or see on television. This presentation will show, by examples from the presenter’s casebook, the importance of paint traces as evidence in real-life cases ranging from hit and run accidents and homicides, to the oldest murder re-trial in this country, to the Green River Murders, the largest serial murder case in U. S. history.

Coatings Trends & Technologies

Coatings Trends & Technologies (CTT) has become an industry staple over the last 7 years for coatings formulators, chemists and R&D specialists to come together for two days of networking with industry professionals and in-depth learning about the latest research and emerging trends in coatings technology from industry experts. CTT’s mission is to provide actionable solutions to improve formulations and help companies evolve with the changing trends in the coatings industry.
