Microtrace COVID-19 Response: Update (21 April 2020)

An Update from Microtrace Concerning COVID-19

Microtrace will remain open and continue to serve our clients.

On Friday, 20 March 2020, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that a shelter-in-place order would take effect on Saturday (21 March 2020). This order does not affect Microtrace’s ability to provide services.

Microtrace provides immediate laboratory support for many of the 16 critical sectors including, but not limited, to the medical, pharmaceutical, and food industries, as well as, manufacturers of personal hygiene products. The Department of Homeland Security has directed that those who “work in a critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply… have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.”

According to both the Department of Homeland Security and the recently published Illinois directives, Microtrace is an essential, life-sustaining business/professional service. As such, it has a civic duty to remain open and provide services. The continued operation of the laboratory will help to ensure there are no interruptions in the healthcare services and food supply for our communities and for the nation.

Safety remains our number one concern. We are closely monitoring the CDC’s recommendations (as well as those of the World Health Organization and state and local authorities) on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus.

We have spent the last months working toward understanding and applying appropriate safety actions in response to COVID-19. We continue to work towards understanding how it could affect our employees, clients, and projects, and making the necessary adjustments to both our lab work and business operations. As a precaution, we have reduced operational staff to those necessary on-site, created double shifts to lessen person-to-person exposure, and spread these employees throughout our 10,000 square-foot laboratory. This laboratory has always been maintained as a clean facility.

Microtrace will continue to do its best to ensure that laboratory and business operations are safe during these uncertain times. Our aim is to continue serving our clients and their projects with the same high level quality of analysis, while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
