Pollen, Diatoms & Foraminifera

Pollen, diatoms, and foraminifera are seemingly disparate materials, but they are all fine particles of a similar size range which are identified on the basis of their microscopical features.  Each of these finely sculpted microscopic structures can provide useful information about the environment, climate, or geographic location of a sample.

These materials are analyzed at Microtrace during soil comparisons, when aiding  intelligence forensic investigations and, in the case of pollen, in connection with air quality studies.

Microtrace maintains a collection of physical specimens and a large library of reference texts which serve as the foundation upon which these investigations are based.
