Glass Refractive Index Measurement System

The GRIM is one of the two generally accepted methods for the analysis and comparison of forensic glass samples (the other being trace element analysis). GRIM uses temperature variation to measure the refractive index of glass (or other materials) to a precision of ~0.00003.  The GRIM 3, shown here, can conduct analyses on multiple glass fragments simultaneously.
