How well did you do with our little mystery? Here are some clues to assist you.
Clue 1: Consider the fourth stanza in particular.
Clue 2: Ponder the key words in relation to the whole.
Hint: Remember that “O” is a word.
Solution:
The poem is an acrostic where the “initials” of “each line” reveal “the moral thread”: “Do, O God, no evil, live on, do good.” But more than this, the acrostic is a palindrome reading the same forwards and in “retrograde.”
